Résumé : Spores of Bacillus cereus sensu lato are surrounded by an exosporium, the outermost spore layer, which contributes to spore protection and adhesion to surfaces. The exosporium is a balloon-like structure separated from the coat layer by the interspace. Some proteins may be located in this compartment and the presence of two distinct saccharide layers within the interspace of B. anthracis spores have been recently evidenced, although the exact composition and structure of these saccharides has not been described. Whether the interspace of B. cereus spores also contains some saccharides remains unknown, as well as their composition and their contribution to spore structure and properties.
